The horse whisperers like to ’straddle’

Surely its a great season for option traders. The summer blockbuster this time is volatility. The VIX index is on a 52 week high. ‘Twould be interesting to see how things pan out with the risk-takers.

On a related note, an interesting observation:
‘Risk’ in chinese is made up of the following compound word: 風 (feng: opportunities) + 險 (xian:danger)

The packet is in !

I got my admissions packet yesterday. It was surely a great feeling opening it. My eyes fell initially on what seemed like the silhouette of a building, city night lights, a lot of yellow and then the assuring words jumping out saying “you are here”. The building in question is of course the Gleacher Center. The back side of the poster had a huge picture of the same in daylight – probably taken a little after noon (based on the shadows) during the summer quarter (based on the crowd and the dress).

I will have to spend the next few days deciding on the courses and reading up on how to bid for courses.

The blogger’s predicament

Knowing not where he comes from, knowing not where he is bound, the MBA-less soul truly invokes pity. Trapped in ignorance and sham, the soul’s pain is known only to those who have an MBA.

fellow bloggers and readers ! just as I enter the University of Chicago GSB, I plan to chronicle my experiences, ramble along making notes hoping the UC GSB MBA will show me the light. As I enter the sanctum sanctorum and immerse myself in some 20+ courses over the course of time, I hope to be a different person with a different outlook towards corporations, businesses, people and more importantly – myself
